Rossi is on a Roll - The R95 Now Comes in New Flavors

Apparently Rossi did have plans to release the new R95 in a Triple Black version. They even have a 20 inch stainless steel model with laminated stocks. They are really going after Marlin but competition is a good thing.

The Triple Black series is a competitor to Marlin's Dark Series guns. In this case, they have an all black finish, a threaded 16.5 inch barrel and a picatinny rail on top with integrated rear sight. Suppressor ready is the name of the game. With all these shorter barrels, I'm considering what the velocity difference would be between a 16 and 20 inch and if it's all that much. At the very least, these short barrels would still be able to take a deer at, at least, around 100 yards. With that being the case, they are still a practical choice for many hunters.

The laminated version is a stainless finish iteration of the 20 inch model but has some of the features from the Triple Black like the paracord lever wrap and rail section with integrated sights. Think like a Marlin CSBL in .30-30. I don't know that the metal is actually a stainless steel as the website says it's an alloy steel material. It could be all the guns are the same metal alloy with different finishes.

So far, still no 20 inch model with a threaded barrel with wood stocks but I'm starting to think more about trying a 16 inch barrel to see what the velocity difference is. I think it's interesting that Rossi jumped into the .30-30 game and I will be watching what they do and how these guns come out in the end. I'm still holding out for my dream Marlin 336 Classic with threaded barrel but one of these Trapper 16 inch guns could be a good choice as a beater gun.
