An Independent Scotland. Yes or No - Which Ever They Choose I hope It Works Out For Them

Soon, the people of Scotland will be voting on whether or not the should become an independent country. This will break them away from the UK and the control of the English Parliament. 

 

There are about 5 million people in Scotland and around half say yes while the other half say no. I don't know much about politics in the UK, or anywhere else in the world, but trying to become an independent country is one HELL of a thing to be trying to do. Gaining independence is a massive undertaking that will take centuries to see how it will turn out.

I understand that there are many reasons they shouldn't do it and there are reasons they should split. Part of me hopes the majority vote yes and that they take a strong look at putting in a constitution and a government that respects that constitution. If they need an example, I suggest the US Constitution. If they don't like the Right to Arms idea, I suggest they at least put in a Right to Self Defense. The likelihood of Scotland becoming a land of gun rights, or them setting up the government a way I would agree with is highly unlikely. It does seem that they are trying to setup a welfare state which has me worried. I'd suggest less government and lower taxes to get businesses interested in moving in and get your economy running good. They can do their socialist stuff after that. Regardless, it's going to take a BOATLOAD of hard work and determination to make this work right. Independence is NOT for the weak-hearted.

To Scotland, if you gain independence, good luck. I hope it works out for you. May your government be limited and not to overbearing on the people and don't forget about the peoples' rights.  And try not to forget why you did this in the first place (as if you'll need reminding). I suppose Mr. Wallace would roll in his grave otherwise.
